Name, Race & Class[]

Bethsy Braddock

Human, Death Knight

Physical Traits[]

She appears like a woman in her prime years, somewhere in her mid twenties. Her muscles are toned and she looks like a capable warrior.

Her skin is somewhat pale and reddish, as if flush with blood. Her face looks somewhat sad and her eyes glow fiercely with a cold blue light.

She smells strongly of perfume.

Talents[]

Tale-Telling: Bethsy is magically bound to tell her story to people she meets. At times, she feels the agony of the event returning and her heart burns until she tells her story. While she is telling her story (and only then) her voice has a captivating effect that makes it really hard for the listener to interrupt her or leave before the tale is finished.

Occupation[]

Mariner

Background[]

Pre-Death[]

Bethsy was born in Stormwind (the old city, in the year before it fell), but her family was forced to flee short months after her birth when Stormwind was besieged. She grew up in the port city of Southshore until she reached her early teens.

At some time during her fourteenth year she disguised herself as a boy and stole aboard the frigate "Maria Pesto". A few years later, when her body developed and the ruse was revealed, she had already earned the respect of the captain and crew and was allowed to remain on board, though she was demoted to Cadet for concealing her true gender (she had attained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant before she was unmasked).

When Bethsy reached her twenty-sixth year (in year 25) the Maria Pesto set out on an expedition to explore the northern seas, but a storm broke out, and instead the ship was driven far to the south. Once the storm passed, the ship turned back north, but progress was slow because the ship was veiled in a dense fog. It is not public knowledge what happened, but in the end, when the Maria Pesto reached the shores of Azeroth and sank, Bethsy was the only surviving crewmember.

Post Death[]

Actually, Bethsy died along with the rest of the crew of the Maria Pesto, but was brought back as the prize of a game between two unknown entities. As part of the prize she is bound to sometimes tell her tale to strangers she meet.

Not exactly dead, but not exactly alive either, Bethsy is easily able to pass for a living woman though she does not need to eat or even breathe.

Having trouble finding work on the seas (since she was now considered to bring bad luck), she tried her luck as a mercenary/bodyguard.

Only with the recent outbreak of hostilities between Garrosh's Horde and the alliance has she once again found employment as a sailor.

Family Background[]

Current Status[]

Personal Notes[]

Alignment[]

Lawful Neutral (good tendencies)

Bethsy believes that laws are nessecary for a society to function. She tends not to involve herself on matters of good vs. evil, but if pressed, she would choose good.

Influences[]

Ancient mariner statue

A statue of the Ancient Mariner, with the albatross around his neck, at Watchet, Somerset.

"Ah! well a-day! what evil looks
Had I from old and young!
Instead of the cross, the Albatross
About my neck was hung."

Rime of the Ancient Mariner: Samuel Taylor Coleridge's epic poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner Tells the story of a mariner that commits one of the worst crimes at sea; killing an Albatross. Resulting in the ship being cursed and only the Mariner surviving, magically bound to tell his tale wherever he goes. I found this dark tale interesting, and it gives Bethsy an intersting backstory.
